Gosh, I was just thinking about sharing and I had the idea that I could SHARE what I think about it. That’s the power of a BLOG. So you might not know it, but sharing is just the most essential thing in this whole experience we call LIFE. It’s not easy–you’ve got to be strong. Giving up stuff you would normally keep and hoard and put in order of size in your glass display case except for that one extra special figurine of the pig in a dress playing jumprope that’s just too charming and what a deal can’t believe you found it in a shoebox of all places a Discovery Shop in Tacoma the smell came right off with a quick wash in toothpaste and vinegar just as you knew it would. Well, that’s not easy AT ALL.
What’s the most precious thing you’ve given away?

It’s funny you should ask. Not cus something immediately springs to mind, but yesterday my mother showed me a tapestry/wall-hanging her artist friend had given her.
It was the most beautiful piece. I just gasped. It almost seemed ancient & jewel encrusted the way the colors met and went out again, there were beads and colors and pieces sewn in. It was really beautiful.
I couldn’t believe her friend had given this to her, but actually it was something her boyfriend had given *her* because his wife had gotten it, and that wife had passed away. He was too deeply reminded of his wife by the piece, and she in turn felt not right having it, so now my mom owns this beautiful thing that nobody could bear to have brightening their wall.
Talk about sharing. When I see it on her wall, I will always wonder about her friends, boyfriend’s sweet departed wife, and what she must have felt when she first saw it.
Thank you for sharing the story! Artist friends are the bestist friends.
